Facebook has been advertising scams and bogus health products to me for a while now.
“You keep your wives in cupboard.”
Lovin Spoonful wrote a song about it in 1968:

Why must every generation think their folks are square? And no matter where their heads are they know mom’s ain’t there 'Cause I swore when I was small that I’d remember when I knew what’s wrong with them
Determined to remember all the cardinal rules Like sun showers are legal grounds for cuttin’ school I know I have forgotten maybe one or two And I hope that I recall them all before the baby’s due And I know he’ll have a question or two
Like “Hey, pop, can I go ride my zoom? It goes two hundred miles an hour suspended on balloons And can I put a droplet of this new stuff on my tongue, and imagine frothing dragons while you sit and wreck your lungs?” And I must be permissive, understanding of the younger generation.
And "Hey, pop, my girlfriend’s only three She’s got her own videophone, and she’s takin’ LSD And now that we’re best friends, she wants to give a bit to me But what’s the matter, daddy? How come you’re turnin’ green? Can it be that you can’t live up to your dreams?
I’m convinced the whole “your computer will instantly turn into a botnet that cripples children’s hospitals the moment you disable Windows Update” thing is part of Microsoft’s internet propaganda.
Like there are sysadmins for pretty big industries that schedule updates, sometimes once a month or even less frequently. Why aren’t they worried about all the 0-day remote code execution exploits that supposedly exist every single day?
Why doesn’t China, North Korea’s biggest trading partner, pressure them to be less authoritarian?
They’re definitely among the worst.
frequently stopping young people on the streets to inspect their phones and review text messages for banned language
I’m really tired of people saying “both sides are the same” when it comes to western capitalist exploitation vs eastern totalitarian authoritarianism.
It’s ironically so privileged to even make the comparison because if it were the same, you wouldn’t have been allowed to make this comment.
BBC is a pretty reputable source.
I thought you guys were talking about processed foods. Like potatoes > bread, that kind of thing.
“suggesting that NATO expansion was one of the causes of the war”
“We gave Putin just cause,”
Those are definitely Russian propaganda talking points.
This is how they get us. Infiltrate the groups that we already agree with, like pro-Palestine, anti-Israel, then flood those communities with “…and also we should all hate NATO!”, and people like this guy can’t tell the difference.
Yeah but this is the same guy that likes to repeat Russian propaganda, so maybe we can find someone more reputable.
Just like in WW1.
how does an 11 year old surrender? walk up to a border crossing and say “please relocate me” and hope they don’t rifle butt her head?
It’s not a security risk to not get updates until there’s a known remote code execution exploit in the wild, and by that point it’ll be in the news and Microsoft will patch it anyway, like they did for Windows XP in 2017.
This will turn hundreds of millions of computers that cannot upgrade to #Win11 into security risks and #eWaste.
No it won’t, don’t buy into the Microsoft propaganda.
Is that what you get when you cross a dog with a cantaloupe?
Starts getting slower and slower over months, then yeah starts failing to boot, sometimes works if you pull the battery and retry, and eventually doesn’t work at all anymore.
